Bangor Aspects Festival
Inside a Yurt in a secret walled garden, I joined some of my favourite writers to read my short story, 'The Armada Tree', where I became a Spanish sweet chestnut, experiencing the terrors of an Armada sailor when Drake sent firseships against them.
C S Lewis Festival
On Tuesday 21st November, I joined some amazingly talented women and we all read from our work on the theme of Surprised by Joy for the
C S Lewis Festival. With a huge variety of voices, we all had a great time, and the audience was wonderfully appreciative, with many people going out of their way to compliment readers, including myself.
I read a piece I'd written especially for the festival, entitled Just an Inkling, and it was well-received, thank goodness. It was a fictional snapshot of C S Lewis and his great friend, JRR Tolkien, during a meeting of their little writing group, The Inklings.
Double Book Launch!
On 27th October Belfast Writers' Group launched a new anthology, Creatures and Curiosities. I have two stories in this (Black Dog and White Horses) and I am joint editor. We had a great launch in the Malone Lodge Hotel, Belfast.
We also launched a new edition of a previous anthology, Ghosts in the Glass, with several new stories including one of mine, The Last Post.
Women's Day -- Women Aloud NI
All over Northern Ireland women are coming together on this day to celebrate and raise awareness of our creativity. I will be reading from my own published work in Eason's on Donegall Place, Belfast from 12-2pm. There will be lots of other writers reading there too, so please come along and support us!

SFF Chronicles - Flash Fiction
Kraxon Press - Soul Ship
My first paid story, Soul Ship, appeared in Kraxon Magazine this October. You can read it here. This was a rare attempt at a science fiction story, so it was a nice surprise to have it accepted for publication in such a prestigious magazine.
Ireland's Big Issue - Cat's Eyes
My short story, Cat's Eyes, will be published in Ireland's Big Issue magazine in October too, so next time someone stops me at the traffic lights I'm going to buy one!
Haynet Competition - The Horse and Dragon
I wrote this one very tongue in cheek for an equestrian themed competition and was pleasantly surprised when it won Highly Commended, especially since my main character was a dragon not a horse!
Blackstaff Press/Skypen - Eloria's Story
This spin-off from a full length novel I'm writing for young adults won second place in the Blackstaff Press/Skypen Summer 2014 short story competition. It was my first attempt at a short story.
